Looks can be deceiving.  Upon first glance, passerby’s may think the North Country has little to offer.  It is those of us willing to look around the corner that find the true treasures and explorations available. 

Outdoor enthusiasts dream of miles and miles of untouched land to explore—canoe, cayak, hike, bike, run, walk, golf, boat, 4-wheel, snowmobile—even driving offers wilderness, farmland and waterway experiences.  Travel 1 hour to the Adirondack Park and climb scenic mountains, drive 2 hours to Lake Placid and tour the 1980 Olympic Village—even go down the bobsled course!  Fish the many waters of the St. Lawrence River Valley and hunt it’s many fields and state lands. 

History buffs—welcome to the home of Fredrick Remington and several battle sites of the war of 1812.  Visit the Remington Museum, tour local museums and historic sites, take walking tours, travel the Seaway’s historical map, shop for antiques and spend a day at Upper Canada Village reliving colonial life.  Travel 1.25 hours to Alexandria Bay and tour Boldt and Singer Castles. Learn about Mohawk culture by visiting the Akwasasne Mohawk Reservation 40 minutes away.

Family Fun— Travel with family of all ages.  In Waddington, enjoy a round of golf, go swimming, go fishing, or go bowling at J.C. Riverlanes.  Local attractions within a 30 minute drive include a family fun park, miniature golf, year-round indoor ice arena, drive in movie theater, rock climbing, fishing, golf, canoeing, boating.  Tour a dairy farm or visit a petting zoo.  Learn about Alpacas at the Alpaca farm.  Experience the Robert Moses Power Dam and Lockes.  The children’s place at the Remington Museum offers hands on experiences from art to dress up. Too hot?  Go to the beach!  2 beaches in Waddington alone!

Local Connoisseurs  - Take a tour of Lake St. Lawrence, check out the local artisan store, engage in the weekly farmer’s market, have dinner at any of the fine eating establishments in town or on the dinner cruise.  Get a line wet in the water, take time off and go to one of the Waddington Beaches…
